Michelle Myers, Founder
Michelle founded College Placement Advising in 2009. She graduated UCLA with a B.A. in History, and also holds a Graduate Certificate in College Advising from UC Berkeley.
As a specialist in education for most of her professional career, Michelle understands how to guide high school students and their parents through the complexities of the college application process, including the necessary class schedule, extra-curricular activities and essay-writing techniques that are critical to the college admissions process.
In addition to her work with current students, Michelle travels extensively across the country to visit colleges personally, so she can offer first-hand accounts of campuses and programs to her clients. She also regularly attends industry conferences to consult with college admissions officers and keep up with the latest trends and developments in college admissions. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, she provides a customized service that allows individuals to channel their passions, talents and ambition toward the best possible academic match.
As an active member of both the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), and the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), Michelle upholds their prescribed standards of practice and ethics. She also works closely with a collaborative group of College Advisors locally and nationally, which serves as an incredible resource for her business.
College Placement Advising is the culmination of Michelle’s personal and professional experiences. She has always had a passion for helping ambitious students gain admittance into their dream college, and to realize this dream despite all obstacles, financial or otherwise.

Mike Greenberg, College Advisor
Mike Greenberg has been supporting students in their college admission journey since
2023. Mike’s background includes extensive experience working with students one-on-
one. As owner and operator of a Sylvan Tutoring franchise for 15 years, he regularly
met with families to establish educational goals and detailed plans to improve students’
academics, motivation and self-esteem. He also spent time at Handshake, supporting
college students as they sought out internships and new graduate roles. Through
college admissions coaching, Mike continues to pursue his passion of providing direct
help to individual students and their families.
Three core beliefs provide the foundation for Mike’s approach. First, every student
deserves and has an educational path to support future growth and development. Next,
college admissions is more than just “getting accepted”; the process involves
exploration of personal strengths and motivations, areas of study, and school options to
find the right fit. Finally, a student’s college application journey should be exciting, fun
and rewarding!
Professional development is a regular part of Mike’s college admissions coaching
practice. He holds a Professional Certificate in College Admissions Counseling from UC
Riverside. He personally visits dozens of colleges across the country each year in order
to provide first-hand accounts to his students. He is a member of both the Higher
Education Consultants Association (HECA), and the Western Association for College
Admission Counseling (WACAC). He outinely collaborates with college admissions
representatives as well as local networking groups to stay abreast of the latest college
admissions trends.
Mike received his Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and Master’s degree from the
University of Michigan. Born and raised in the Bay Area, he currently lives in Danville.
He has lived the college admissions process through the eyes of a parent as well,
seeing his children apply to, and gain acceptance from, many wonderful in-state and
out-of-state colleges. He looks forward to working with your family and learning more
about your college aspirations!

Lisa Rigisich, Writing Specialist
For over three decades, Lisa Rigisich has served as both a high school English teacher
and Professor of English Education. At all levels, students love and learn from her.
After earning her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and teaching high school
English, she met her husband and moved to New York City, where she earned her
doctorate from Columbia University. She taught in both Columbia’s and the University
of San Francisco’s graduate schools of education before returning to teach regular,
Honors and AP English at the high school level when she became a mother, as the high
school schedule suited her family life better than the evening teaching that graduate
schools of education require. She is one of those "best-loved" teachers who makes a
permanent and positive impact on her students' confidence and language skills.
In addition to teaching AP English and mentoring fellow teachers in her school district,
Lisa guides and supports college applicants in all aspects of their application-related
writing. This includes UC essays, Common Application essays, supplemental essays,
short answers and personal statements. Specifically, Lisa helps students articulate their
passions, gifts and talents (which they don’t always realize they possess) in a way that
sets them apart from other candidates, resulting in well-crafted essays that represent
the breadth of who they are and who they want to become. Her goals include helping
students recognize what she calls their “superpowers” and their passions, and write
about them in a way that is unique and compelling. And their end products – the essays
– are stunning.
For Lisa, engaging with students is a joy, and supporting them is a
privilege. As a bonus, her students say that working with Lisa permanently renders
them stronger writers.
